Our journey has been anything but ordinary. Through every step, we've focused on staying true to our values and making space for thoughtful, lasting work.
Since 2014, Community Doulas has grown around a simple truth: doulas are the heart of this work. We are birth workers who show up — fully present, deeply invested, and unwavering in our commitment to the families we serve. Many of us started this journey as newly trained doulas ourselves, uncertain and eager to learn, supported by mentors who believed in us before we believed in ourselves.
That experience shaped everything we've built. We created a community where doulas aren't just service providers, but are nurtured, trained, and championed — given the mentorship, continuing education, and hands-on guidance needed to grow into confident, skilled birth workers. In turn, our doulas pour that same care into the families they serve, offering support that is never transactional, always personal.
We maintain an equitable pricing structure because this work has never been about profit — it's about presence, purpose, and community. Every doula who joins us becomes part of something bigger: a network of women lifting each other, mentoring the next generation, and ensuring that quality, compassionate care is never out of reach for any Maine family.
Today, we are proud to be Maine-owned, women-owned, and doula-led — a community built by doulas, for doulas, and for the families we all serve.
