Postpartum Support

Community Doulas is dedicated to the belief that all birthing people deserve the care of a doula, regardless of social or economic status.

What is a Postpartum Doula?

A Postpartum Doula is a trained support person who offers non-judgmental and evidence-based support to new parents in the period after birth. The postpartum period, sometimes called the fourth trimester, is the first 6 weeks after the birth of your baby. A birth doula supports you during labor, birth, and delivery, but a postpartum doula lends a hand and offers knowledge and support once you bring your baby home.

What happens next?

Once you have completed our Postpartum Support Inquiry, you can expect to hear back within a few days.

Once a doula has been matched you will have the opportunity to interview with the doula. Once you decide to move forward with that doula you will complete our Postpartum Support Profile, Postpartum Service Agreement, and Financial Agreement. You and your doula can then schedule your first doula appointment. This appointment typically lasts 1-2 hours and is a time to set goals for each postpartum visit, get to know one another, and establish your relationship.

You and your doula will schedule postpartum visits according to the Postpartum Service Agreement and goals you set forth in your initial meeting.
